Bangladesh Army arrested three ‘terrorists’ of separatist United People's Democratic Front (UPDF- Prasit Bikash Khisa) from Rangamati district from Khagrachari and Rangamati hill districts on early Friday.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, an army officer concerned confirmed it on Saturday afternoon.
The patrol team of army also seized huge arms and ammunition from their possessions.
According to the sources in army, getting secret information, an army patrol team raided at Bangatoli area in Khagrachari district at around 3:40 am Friday.
Two UPDF terrorists were arrested with arms.
They were identified as Omar Chakma,34 and Rocket Chakma,22.
One LG pistol, two rounds of bullet and receipts of collecting extortions were also seized from their possessions.
During the primary interrogation, the arrested admitted that they were involved in extortions, murder, rape in the area for long times.
They were creating instability through their such criminal activities.
In another separate drives, another patrol team of Bangladesh Army raided at Hajachora area under Naniarchar Upazila in Rangamati district at around 2:am Friday.
Army personnel arrested another UPDF terrorist who was identified as Rupayan Chakma alias Gangamoni Chakma.
A foreign rifle, five rounds of bullets and receipt of collecting extortions were also seized from his possession.
He was also an active terrorist of the UPDF, said the local sources.
He said Bangladesh Army will continue such operation to maintain peace and stability in the CHT area.
In the wake of the extortions and terrorism by the armed caders of the UPDF, , locals demanded stern action against the armed terrorist forces of the (UPDF- Prasit group).
