Covid-19 vaccination activities of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force started on Sunday, said ISPR.
On the first day of the vaccination, senior military officials and defense ministry high officials took the vaccine.
Bangladesh Army
As per the official decision, vaccination activities among the members of the Army were started at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital Dhaka.
Acting Chief of Army Staff Quarter Master General (QMG) Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed inaugurated the vaccination programme as the chief guest. After the inauguration, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Army Lt General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan first received the vaccine. Later, senior army officers received the vaccine.
About 200 army personnel were vaccinated on the opening day. All vaccinated soldiers completed the registration through the Covid-19 vaccine management system 'Surokkha'. In addition, all other combined military hospitals in the country also started vaccination activities simultaneously.
It is to be noted that about 500 people will be vaccinated every day from among the registrants. The ceremony was attended by senior army officers and members of various ranks, both military and civilian.
Bangladesh Navy
Vaccination of all members of the Navy started as part of a nationwide vaccination campaign. On this occasion, the vaccination started from Sunday morning in all the naval hospitals in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna naval areas. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal inaugurated the programme as the chief guest in Dhaka. He hoped that corona-free Bangladesh would be the best gift of the year by providing this vaccine.
In order to properly implement the measures taken by the present government to combat the corona virus, military and civilian members of the navy are being vaccinated from 9 am to 10:30 am. Earlier, registration of all military and civilian naval members was started as per the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
Bangladesh Air Force
The vaccination activities among the members of the Air Force officially also started at the Medical Squadron of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat officially inaugurated the vaccination program. During the inauguration of the immunization program, he first received the immunization. Later, senior officers and other members of the BAF were vaccinated against coronavirus.
On the opening day, 30 members of the BAF were vaccinated. The vaccination program has been started simultaneously in all the bases of BAF. The vaccination program was attended by senior officers of the Bangladesh Air Force and other members.
Ministry of Defense
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal also received vaccination at CMH. Later, about 50 senior officials of the Ministry of Defense received the vaccine.
