Twenty-two percent of the country's population still consumes iodine-free salt. This is going to endanger the health of these people. Therefore, 100% iodized salt should be marketed in salt marketing in the country. At the same time, the use of modern technology in order to properly market the salt produced in the country, the importance of building a proper database of salt is immense.

The speakers were speaking at the launch of a web base and mobile app on the country's salt production, use of new technologies in pro

duction and data storage of produced salt organized by UNICEF Bangladesh in a conference room of a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Saturday afternoon.

It was said that using the USI BD CENTRAL MIS web base and mobile app of UNICEF Bangladesh for salt millers in Bangladesh, salt mill owners will be able to keep an account of their products in this MIS, just as millers will be able to save all kinds of product information and required certificates instantly.

Dr Irene Akhter Chowdhury, Nutrition Officer, UNICEF Bangladesh mentioned this information on the occasion.

Cox's Bazar Salt Mill Owners Association President Shamsul Alam Azad presided over the inauguration ceremony while Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Industries Kazi Sakhawat Hossain, Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government Srabasti Roy and President of Cox's Bazar Chamber of Commerce Abu Morshed Chowdhury Khoka were the chief guests.
