Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained a Rohingya terrorist along with firearm and ammunition from Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
The detainee was identified as Mohammad Hossain, 25, son of Sultan Ahmed, resident of no. 26 Noyapara Mochni Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila.
Additional Deputy Inspector General Md Amir Jafar of APBn-8 said the locals spotted two suspicious individuals loitering near the barbed wire fence adjacent to the Kutupalong Transit Camp in Ukhia.
Later, on information, members of APBn reached the spot. They were able to detain one at that time, while the other one escaped. One locally made gun and two rounds of bullet was recovered from his possession at that time.
A case was filed in Ukhiya police station against the detainee, he added.
