Different vested interest groups are still engaged in spreading anti-state propaganda in exchange for money. Even after the peaceful January 7 national election, some elements are spreading falsehood against the ruling Awami League staying at home and abroad.
The Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh has made digital Bangladesh. But, vested interest groups are spreading canard against the government using different social media like Facebook and YouTube. They are even using logos of the mainstream media for the purpose.
But freedom of expression on social media should not be hampered in any way. So, the government will have to take a new strategy to that end.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat on Friday said the government wants disinformation and rumour-free mass media to ensure full freedom of the press. The government lays focus on ensuring space for mass media to question and criticize the authorities and even the government, but it (criticism) must have to be based on factually correct information. We think that the mass media can criticize the government's mistakes and failures but they should be brought under accountability. Simultaneously, the media like national dailies, television channels and news agencies will have to extend cooperation to the government in making them accountable to their ill-efforts to spread anti-state propaganda.
Besides, all the envoys of Bangladeshi missions abroad will have to respond quickly to all sorts of anti-state propaganda in their respective host countries. Even after so much development, some people are engaged in spreading propaganda staying abroad so the envoys will have to be aware of them, and respond to the propaganda.
Staying abroad, some influential persons are now very active in plotting against the country and the Awami League government as well. As part of their as usual characteristics, these people are now on tour in different countries to implement their conspiracies at any cost.
If the envoys abroad start working from today to thwart evil activities, no one will dare to carry out such heinous activities against Bangladesh in the future.
