A landmark health service agreement was signed on Tuesday between the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) and Grameen Kalyan Healthcare Services to expand affordable and quality healthcare facilities for Ansar-VDP members and their families.
Under the agreement, members will receive priority medical services through special health packages at 144 permanent healthcare centres of Grameen Kalyan in 33 districts. The services will cover 65 types of modern diagnostic tests—including ECG, ultrasonography, CBC, ENT and hormone-related tests—along with consultation facilities through secondary hospitals and mobile medical centres.
The Ansar-VDP had earlier partnered with Grameen Digital Healthcare and the Labaid Group to improve access to health services for its members. Its digital platform, the ‘Sukhi’ app, has already gained popularity for providing remote healthcare. The new deal is expected to further strengthen the initiative, ensuring transparency and accountability in billing and service delivery.
At the signing ceremony, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, said: “Both Ansar-VDP and Grameen Kalyan work at the grassroots level. This partnership will ensure that members can access quality healthcare at their doorsteps, boosting their morale and productivity.”
Md. Ashraful Hasan, Chairman of Grameen Group, said: “It is a matter of pride for us to collaborate with an organisation as large and vital as the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP. This initiative will significantly contribute to the welfare of its members.”
Among others present were Colonel Md. Faisal Ahmed Bhuiyan, Deputy Director General (Administration); Md. Saifullah Russell, Deputy Director General (Operations); Md. Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director General (Training); and senior officials from the Grameen Group.
