Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) has strongly protested a series of newspaper reports claiming that Ansar members were deployed to guard a mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Dhamrai municipal office.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the Ansar–VDP Headquarters said the claim was “baseless and fabricated,” adding that the force had never deployed Ansar personnel independently at any municipality.
According to the press release, the two individuals currently providing security at the mural site are not members of the Ansar force. They were hired by the municipal authorities during the previous government under a monthly private contract of Tk10,000 per person. The force emphasised that it had no involvement with the recruitment or assignment of these guards.
The authority also referred to an earlier incident at the Matuail Institute of Child and Maternal Health, where public confusion arose because private security guards were seen wearing uniforms similar to Ansar attire.
Ansar warned that publishing inaccurate or sensitive reports could misinform the public, damage the reputation of the country’s largest professional force, and negatively impact the morale of its members. It stressed that such reporting could also hinder their operational responsibilities.
Therefore, all media professionals and concerned individuals are earnestly requested to verify the accuracy of such sensitive information prior to publication by contacting the Public Relations Officer of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP (Mobile: 01730-038030).
