Another software tech park in city

Another software technology park will be set up in city’s Kawran Bazar to cater to the huge demand for space in the software technology park of companies investing in the IT sector and to build a suitable branding ecosystem. The construction of this 12-storey green building with a space of 120,000 square feet will cost around Tk 150 crore.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this while addressing a function held to hand over the land allotted by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in favor of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority for setting up ‘Vision 2021 Tower-2’ Software Technology Park on Thursday afternoon. ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) was present as the special guest at the handover ceremony. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the first meeting of the Prime Minister's Digital Bangladesh Task Force on August 3, 2010 decided to set up a software technology park at Vision-2021 Tower (formerly Janata Tower) in Kawran Bazar in favour of the Information and Communication Technology Department. 

In view of this, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works on November 24, 2010 allocated the Vision-2021 tower in favor of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority renovated the dilapidated building and set up a software technology park and on October 16, 2015, Adviser to the Prime Minister on ICT Sajeeb Wazed Joy officially inaugurated the activities of the software technology park. At present, the park employs about 1,000 people in 19 companies and 15 startups. 

Speaking as the special guest, ABM Amin Ullah Nuri said, in the interest of developing the IT sector of the country, RAJUK under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works has already gave allotment for a 0.47 acres plot for the construction of ‘Vision 2021 Tower-2 Software Technology Park’. The land was officially handed over on Thursday. Domestic and foreign IT companies and potential startups will have the opportunity to conduct their activities by constructing international standard buildings there to take the IT sector of Bangladesh forward.
