In Bhushanchhara Union No. 4 of Barkal Upazila, in the first phase of 2021-2022 Fiscal Year "Employment for the Extremely Poor" 40-day programme, various irregularities are taking place in the implementation of the project.

It is learned that irregularities are taking place in all the wards of the union where road works are being carried out under this programme.

A total of 131 extremely poor workers have been included in the list for 4 road works in the implementation of this program. Most of them are not very poor and more than two-thirds are not actually working. There have been serious allegations that their names are being used only in paper and in reality, they are not doing any work in these projects.

The road is being repaired and filled with soil from Upazila Hospital to Forest Office and Pandit Para to Uttar Bhushanchhara, from Segun Bagan to Nur Mohammad's house and from Bhandari Para Bridge to Mostafa Bari.

Abdul Jalil, a member of the 8th ward of Bhushanchhara Union, himself made a verbal complaint to Barkal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jewel Rana on February 26 about this limitless irregularity. He said that all the streets in the union are being worked with only a few people. That too is not regular at all. Showing only fake people in the list. And the roads that are being worked on are actually in good condition at present.

Member Jalil further said that the chairman of this union Mamunur Rashid Mamun has included him in the list of his close relatives and his followers and is conspiring to extort half of the money from them.Besides, Jalil said that Chairman Mamun TR (Test Relief), Kabita (money for work) and LGSP allocation projects were repeatedly shown in the same place and pocketed the money himself.

Md. Noor Nabi has been made the group leader in the work of Uttar Bhushanchhara road from Pandit Para. In reality, this Noor Nabi does no work and lives in the district town most of the time. He is known to be a student of Rangamati College.

Ironically, after the complaint was lodged, work has been started on Pandit Bhusanchhara Road from Pandit Para since last Monday.
