Leaders of Ganatrantra Manch, a political alliance consisting of six political parties, on Sunday demanded an immediate announcement of a specific roadmap for justice, reform, and elections.
They made such observations at a press conference held at the central office of Nagarik Oikya in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
At the press conference, the leaders said that the people of Bangladesh have defeated an extremely undemocratic government that oppresses the people of Bangladesh through a united struggle. Students, workers and people from all strata have unitedly took part in the battle.
Although it began with a student quota reform movement, the 24 Uprising quickly became a collective struggle of all pro-democracy and pro-liberation political parties and groups in this country.
The mass uprising of July 24 gave the people of the country a new dream of building a new Bangladesh, the categorically said.
They also stated that Professor Dr. Mohammad Yunus took charge as the head of the interim government based on the opinions of all parties in post-uprising Bangladesh. It is on the basis of this national unity that the responsibility of justice, reform and elections has been entrusted to this government. But a specific action plan is needed for all these issues to overcome the crisis of trust, conflict or distance that has arisen.
The interim government has the full authority to adopt a roadmap on these issues based on consensus and implement it. We believe that similar national consensus is necessary for making various decisions in the national interest.
“At this time, we urge all parties and citizens to maintain national unity by consciously rejecting any attempt to push the country into crisis through blame gaming or making divisions” they added.
Saiful Haque, general secretary of Biplobi Workers Party of Bangladesh, Jonayed Saki, the chief coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement , Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, chairman of the Bhashani Janashakti Party and coordinator of the Democratic Forum, Hasnat Qayum, chief coordinator of the State Reform Movement, Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, general secretary of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Shahidullah Kaiser, general secretary of Nagorik Oikya delivered their speeches at the press conference.
