‘Annakut festival celebrated in ISKCON temple’

ISKCON founder Acharya Srila Abhaycharanavinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Tirobhava, Giri Govardhana Puja, Annakut festivat  were celebrated according to religious norms on Saturday at the Premises of Sri Krishna and Radhamadhav Mandir, Sri Sri Gaur Nitai Ashram Premises organized by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Chattogram.

The function was presided over by Sripad Pandit Gadadhar Das Brahmachari, Principal of ISKCON Temple.  Janmashtami Celebration Parishad Central President Sukumar Chowdhury was present as the chief guest.  Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, Chattogram Iskcon Regional Secretary and Principal of Pundrik Dham, Advocate Chandan Talukder, former President of Mahanagar Puja Committee, Advocate Nitai Prasad Ghosh, General Secretary of Mahanagar Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad, Hillol Sen, General Secretary of Mahanagar Puja Committee, Hillol Sen, CCC Councilor Shaibal Das Suman, Nilu Nag, Engineer Ashutosh Das, Iskcon Nandankanan Vice President Akinchan Gaur Das Brahmachari, Taran Nityananda Das Brahmachari, Subal Sakha Das Brahmachari, Apurba Manohar Das Brahmachari were present.

Speakers at the meeting said that Srila Prabhupada first set foot in America in 1965 at the age of 70 and spread Vedic culture in Eastern countries.  Srila Prabhupada founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in 1966 in America.  In 12 years he toured the world 14 times establishing ISKCON temples and preaching centers in almost every country in the world establishing Vedic gurukuls, farm communities with 108 major temples to spread the glories of Lord Krishna all over the world.  Srila Prabhupada visited Nityadham on this auspicious day in 1977.  

Prabhupada's Tirovava Tithi and Supreme Lord Giri Govardhan Puja, Annakoot Mahotsav is celebrated all over the world.

Srila Prabhupada tried to guide misguided youth groups and people from all walks of life all over the world to the right path by exposing them to the light of Vedic culture.  

Therefore, he has become known as an elite personality in the world.  ISKCON monastics and orators strongly denounced such a humble man and his established International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISCON) for various falsehoods directed by some sectarian groups.

 Prasad was distributed to about thousand devotees on the occasion.
