Aminul’s ‘Face of Life’ begins at DU

A week-long solo art exhibition titled 'Face of Life' by sculptor Aminul Islam Ashik has begun at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University (DU). The exhibition opened on Monday evening at the Zainul Gallery, offering visitors a chance to experience unique artworks blending tradition and modern thoughts.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at a ceremony held at the Osman Jamal Auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Arts. In his speech, Professor Mamun Ahmed said, 'The artist’s profound thoughts and distinctive approaches are beautifully reflected in these artworks. I hope this exhibition will inspire young artists and students to explore new ideas in art.'

This exhibition displays a total of 27 sculptures made from wood, fiberglass, and iron, alongside 20 vibrant paintings. Through these works, the artist has tried to capture different emotions, expressions, and phases of human life, making the exhibition both engaging and thought-provoking.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Professor Dr Md Azharul Islam Sheikh, Honorary Professor Md Hamiduzzaman Khan of the Sculpture Department, and internationally acclaimed artist and founder of Britto Art Trust Mahbubur Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests. They praised the artist’s dedication and creative presentation.

Artist Aminul Islam Ashik is a former student of the Sculpture Department of Dhaka University and has made a name for himself in the country’s art scene through his distinctive sculptures and paintings.

The exhibition will continue till May 25. Art lovers, students, and visitors can enjoy the exhibition every day from 11 am to 7 pm at the Zainul Gallery. The organisers have invited everyone to visit and experience the journey of life through art.
