Dr AKM Aminul Islam, Professor of Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding has been appointed as Director (Research) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur for the next 2 years after successful completion of his first tenure.
Professor Aminul was born in 1973 at Kandughar under Brahmanpara Upazilla of Cumilla district. Prof Aminul Islam received both of his bachelor and Master’s degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University. After that he joined as a Lecturer of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh and became Professor in the same department. Dr. Islam has obtained his PhD degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from University Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2011 and Post-doctoral research in the same University.
He served as Director (Research), Proctor, Head of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Head of Department of Agricultural Engineering of the same university.
He is serving as General Secretary of Plant Breeding & Genetics Society of Bangladesh and Seminar & Research Secretary of JICA Alumni Association of Bangladesh.
