Ambulance-pickup collision in Tangail leaves 5 dead

Five people have been killed in a collision between an ambulance and a fish loaded pickup truck at Kalihati of Tangail while six people were injured. The accident took place at Hatiya at Kalihati on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Saturday. Nabin, in-charge of Tangail General Hospital Police Outpost has confirmed.

Three of the five dead have been identified. They are Saddam Mia, the driver of the ambulance, Farida Akhter (35), wife of Morshed Ali from Chittagong, and his elder sister Ferdousi Akhter (45). He said a Dhaka-bound pickup loaded with fish from North Bengal reached Hatia and collided with an ambulance coming from the opposite direction. 

The front part of the ambulance was twisted. Three people, including the driver of the ambulance, were killed on the spot.  Injured six people were rescued and taken to Tangail General Hospital where two reported died more there.
