Amar Ekushey Book Fair begins at IU

The week-long ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair’ was started Tuesday at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on the premises of the ‘Bangla Mancha’ on the campus. The fair will continue until February 21.

IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam inaugurates the book fair and ‘Basanta Utsav’ around 11:00 after parading the main roads on the campus on the occasion of ‘Basanta Utsav’ procession. IU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman, treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya and IU Teachers Association president Professor Dr Jahangir Hossain were present at that time. In the fair in total 40 stalls are set up by various departments, social, cultural and political organizations of the university. After inaugurating the fair and Basanta Utsav, a discussion and cultural program were held there.

IU Vice-Chancellor Dr Salam attended there as a chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman and Treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya were present as special guests. Professor Dr Gazi Mahbub Murshid presided over the program and Professor Dr Sarwar Murshed gave his welcome speech. Professor Dr Baki Billah and Rosy Ahmed of the Bangla department conducted the program jointly. After the discussion program, a colorful cultural program was also staged there.
