Aman paddy procurement drive inaugurated in Narail

Aman paddy procurement drive by purchasing paddy directly from the farmers was inaugurated at Maizpara Bazaar in Narail Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narail Anjuman Ara inaugurated the Aman paddy procurement drive, while District Food Control Officer Sheikh Monirul Hasan, Narail-2 constituency MP Mashrafei Bin Mortaza's father Golam Mortuza Swapan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Food Godown Tarun Bala, Sadar Upazila Food Inspector Apurba Kumar Sarkar, District Rich Mill Owners Association’s president Md. Abdul Mannan, general secretary Md. Aminur Rahman and Maizpara UP chairman Md. Zillur Rahman were present at the inaugural function. 

District Food Control Office sources said that the target of procurement of 4 thousand 37 metric tonnes of Aman paddy has been set in three upazilas of Narail district this season.

Of these, the target of procurement of paddy in Sadar Upazila is 1,975 metric tonnes of paddy, the target of procurement of paddy in Lohagara upazila is 1,063 metric tonnes and the target of procurement of paddy in Kalia upazila is 999 metric tones.

The procurement campaign, which will start from Wednesday, will run till February 2, 2020. 

District Food Control Officer Sheikh Monirul Hasan said the emphasis was on the purchase of paddy directly from the farmer as per the government's directive.  Farmers will be benefited if they can sell their produce paddy directly at fair prices.
