‘Alor Guerilla Team’ connects villagers with electricity

Prolonged plight of 15 low-income group families of Sursail (WAPDA para) village under Chitalmari upazila under Bagerhat district have been removed as the government connected their houses with electricity within 24-hour. Due to illogical resistance from a local influential person, the villagers remained deprived of electricity connection for last two-year. A news about the sufferings of the people of the village for the lack of electricity was published in various media on May-9 and 10. The news drew attention to the officials of Bagerhat Palli Bidduth Samity and within 24-hour of the publication of the report, ‘Alor Guerilla Team’ of Chialmari connects all 14 houses of the village with electricity. By getting electricity in their houses after a long waiting on May-16, family members of the village were enchanted with joy and pleasure. 

Sekander Ali Sheikh (68) and his wife Sufia Begum (60) of the village were extremely happy with the electricity connection in their house. They said, now their village has been lighted with the electric connection. Now, no ghost-like scenario haunts the rural houses and walkways after the evening. They further mentioned with the initiative of the government, now at their old age they can enjoy the cool air of the electric fans. Just after the Eid-day, the new electricity connection in their village has doubled the pleasure of the eid, they added. They expressed their gratitude and offered prayer for the Prime Minister, Bagarhat Palli Bidduth Samity and the Journalists for connecting the village houses with electricity. 

Children of the village Murad Khan, Ashik Sheikh, Mahin Khan, Lamia Akhter and Farzana informed they were very glad to have their houses lighted with electricity. They said they will no longer need to read their books in the dim-light of Kerosene lamp. 

Electrician of PBS Hefaz Mollah informed the works of electricity connection starts at the village in 2019 but due to the resistance from a local influential person, the works remained suspended. As a result, 15 families of the village were deprived from electricity connection for last two-year. He said, he was glad to connect the villagers with electricity.  Kausar Ahmed, Assistant General Manager of Bagerhat PBS said, the members of Alor Guerilla Team of Chitalmari worked round the clock to ensure supply electricity to the villagers. The team members even worked in storm and in the rain and connect 15 families of the village with electricity after 24-hour of works. 

Depuy General Manager of PBS, Chitalmari Zonal Office said there was works of electrification of the village remained suspended due to resistance from a local influential quarter to the contractor.

 Later members of Alor Guerilla Team established the electric supply lines and connect the houses of the village with electricity within 24-hour.
