The University Grant Commission (UGC) has asked for complete transparency regarding revenue and expenses of all universities.

Prof Muhammed Alamgir, the chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (Additional Duties), said this while speaking at a conference on ethics training on Wednesday to carry out the UGC's ethics action plan for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

Professor Alamgir asserts that academic institutions are committed to following the law's requirements for accountability and financial transparency. The public's perception of the university will improve if income and expense transparency is maintained.

Universities are advised to implement a skill-based education system by the UGC Chairman. According to him, wages in the modern world are determined by a variety of skills rather than labour. Therefore, universities should prioritize providing students with a practical and life-oriented education.

UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman presided over the training's opening ceremony, which was led by Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Director of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (Joint Secretary), served as a resource person.

The program was moderated by Md. Asaduzzaman, the UGC Deputy Secretary and Ethics Committee focal point, with participation from UGC officials at different levels.
