Regarding the remarks of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, that “There is zero human rights in the country during the tenure of the present government", Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, "The biggest human rights violation took place in this country during Ziaur Rahman's tenure”.

Ziaur Rahman committed the biggest human rights violation in history by rewarding the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. Even then, they are not ashamed to talk about human rights.

Hanif said, “After Ziaur Rahman came to power, the war criminals who had tortured women in the war of independence were given the opportunity to do politics by releasing them from jail. Under the auspices of BNP, religion-based evil forces spread all over the country. We will do our utmost to protect our sovereignty. All fundamentalists and militants alike the war criminals will be brought to justice”.

He said this in response to the question of the journalists while putting flowers before the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of Kushtia Liberation Day on Friday at 11 am in front of Kushtia Government College in memory of the martyrs.

At the same time, Hanif added that Begum Khaleda Zia was a prisoner convicted of corruption. The BNP leaders and activists did not take to the streets for his release, because they know that their leader Begum Zia and Tareq Rahman are corrupt. Only with the grace of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is Begum Zia out.

Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain, Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shahinur Rahman and other party leaders and workers were present at the time.
