Chattogram Zilla Parishad organized a check handing over of financial assistance to the poor freedom fighters of the district.
Monday at the temporary office of the Zila Parishad, Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pearul Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.
In the chief guest's speech, ATM Pearul Islam said, Awami League will always remember the contribution of freedom fighters. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is building the country in the spirit and ideals of the liberation war. We pay tribute to all the brave freedom fighters who gave their lives for the country. Freedom fighters are the pride of our nation. The freedom fighters did not fight for the country out of greed; they fought to liberate the country. In return for their sacrifice, we got a flag of our own. During the BNP regime, freedom fighters were afraid to reveal their identity. The Awami League government awarded the highest honor to the freedom fighters.
He said that the government is taking all measures to find the freedom fighters who were completely neglected. The government is making arrangements for their allowances, state honors when they die, and even their burial. If the young generation gets to know the history of victory by seeing the memories of the liberation war, then they will be inspired, they will know how to work for the country. For this purpose, the government is establishing a freedom fighter complex in each Upazila. Sheikh Hasina government has increased the allowance of freedom fighters. It will continue from generation to generation. Awami League government will remember your (freedom fighters) contribution forever. We are working to preserve the memory of the Liberation War.
