Rajshahi City unit of Awami League took out joyous procession congratulating the Election Commission (EC) for the announcement of the Election Schedules of the 12th Parliamentary elections.
AL leaders and activists started the procession from the party's Kumarpara office at 7-00 p.m. Wednesday and after parading various streets, the processionists converged for a meeting at the Zero point of Shaheb Bazaar of the city. Presidium Member of Awami League and Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton led the procession.
Presided over by Mohammad Ali Kamal, President of Rajshahi City AL, the meeting was addressed, among others, by AL Joint Secretary Ahsanul Haque Pintu.
Khairuzzaman Liton thanked the EC for the announcement of the Election schedule braving all threats from BNP-Jammat. He hoped the elections will be held properly and peacefully on January 7. He also called upon the people to vote for the 'Boat'.
The meeting was attended by a host of AL leaders and activists, including Vice-President of city AL Principal Shafiqur rahman Badsha, Dr Tabibur Tahman Sheikh, Naimul Huda Rana, Mostaque Hossain, Advocate Aslam Sarker, Azizul Alam Bentu, Mahbubul Alam, Mir Tiufique Ali, Feroz Kabir, Abdus Sohel and Kamarullah Sarker.
