AL takes out peace procession

In protest against the fresh two-day (48-hour) countrywide blockade called by BNP-Jamaat, Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League and its front organisations held a peace and development rally in Rajshahi on Monday morning. 

AL-led organisations took out a peace procession from Court station premises to the Rajpara police station area and converged for a brief meeting. The programme was headed by Vice-President of Metropolitan Awami League Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha and Organising Secretary of Metropolitan unit AL Azizul Alam Bentu. 

Speakers at the meeting said, Awami League and its associate organisations are ready to counter all anti-state conspiracies and anarchy of BNP and Jamaat with strong hands. They mentioned, people defy the blockade programme of BNP and hate their arsonist and destructive politics. 

The meeting was attended, among others, by President of Rajpara thana AL Syed Hafizur Rahman Babu, President of Ward-2 Selim Reza, President of Ward-3 Mahtab Ali, President of Ward-4 Feroz Kabir Mukta and President of Ward-5 Arman Ali. 

It is learnt, during the 4th phase of the blockade of BNP-Jamaat, the movement of vehicles in Rajshahi was normal, though no long-route bus left Rajshahi. No activity of BNP-Jamaat was noticed in the city during the blockade programme. The vigilance of RAB, Police and detective agencies was intensified in the city during the blockade.
