The ruling Awami League (AL) has taken elaborate programmes marking the Shahid Dibash and the International Mother Language Day today.
The AL will observe the day in a befitting manner amid enforcing all the necessary health guidelines due to ongoing corona pandemic.
The Awami League along with the nation will remember and observe the supreme sacrifice of the language heroes on this day 69 years back.
Of the programmes, national and party flags will be kept half-mast and black flags will be hoisted atop at the AL's Bangabandhu Avenue central office and Bangabandhu Bhaban and other offices of the AL across the country at 6:30 am on today.
Other programmes include wearing black badges at 7 am and later bringing out Provat Feri from the south gate of New Market as a mark of respect to the Language Movement martyrs.
Apart from this, the AL will organize discussion at the central party office at 3:30pm on February 22. Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the discussion on the day. The PM will join the programme through video conferencing from her official Gano Bhaban residence.
