AL’s 71st founding anniversary celebrated across the country

Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations and associate bodies celebrated the party’s 71st founding anniversary across the country on a limited scale programme amidst Covid-19 situation. Our district correspondents sent news items on the issue.

In Rajshahi, the city unit of the party paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with placing wreaths on his portrait and four national leaders in front of the party office.

City unit president and Mayor of Rajshahi AHM Khairuzzaman Liton flanked by other front-ranking leaders and activists placed wreaths following health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said Awami League is not only the oldest and largest political party in the country but also an incarnation of the mainstream democracy and secular ideologies.

He added the present government has been working relentlessly to cope with the global pandemic situation competently.

Liton called upon the party leaders and workers to be united for furthermore strengthening the hands of Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina to take the nation forward successfully. 

In Bogura, the district unit Awami League held a programme in compliance with the health rules in the presence of a small number of people on the occasion.

National and party flags were hoisted, wreaths were laid at the portraits of Bangabandhu and four national leaders while, Bangabandhu's historic speech was played at the party office on Temple Road. District AL unit leaders Advocate Amanullah, Manjurul Alam Mohan, Sagar Kumar Roy and others were present at the time.

In Khagrachhari, a Qur'an recitation and prayer ceremony was organized at the district AL office on Narikel Bagan Road in the morning. After hoisting National and party flags in front of the party office, the leaders and activists went to Municipal Town Hall and laid wreaths at Bangabadhu's sculpture. A brief discussion was held at the party office later.

Khagrachhari AL Unit Vice President Kangjari Chowdhury, GS Nirmalendu Chowdhury, Organi­zing  Secretary Didarul Alam and others were present at the time.
