AL men bring out procession with their fellow’s body

Hundreds of agitated protesters took out a procession in Pabna town by holding over heads the body of an AL activist, shot-dead by rivals on Monday. 

It is learnt, after the autopsy conducted at the morgue of Sadar Hospital around 2-00 pm on Monday, supporters of dead AL activist Amirul Islam Pramanik took his corpse and start agitation by carrying the dead body over their heads.  A tense situation has been prevailing in the area following the incident and additional police have been deputed in town areas to avert further escalation of the situation.

Masud Alam, Superintendent of Police of Pabna informed AL activist Amirul Islam Pramanik was shot dead while he was gossiping in front of a tea-stall at Ataikanda Bazaar under Pabna sadar upazila around 8-30 PM on Sunday. Amirul, a Mason by profession died on the spot. During retreating, the killers chanted slogans of the Sarbahara Party. Amirul was killed as a sequel of previous enmity, he opined. 

Local people informed the miscreants lobbed three bullets on Amirul ensuring his death before retreating. They further said, there has been a rivalry between local AL leader, Union Parishad Chairman Abu Sayed and another AL leader of the union Sultan Mahmud. Amirul belonged to the Sultan group. 

Union AL leader Sultan Mahmud said Amirul had been working with him for a long time. He was innocent and a devoted party worker. Now, after his death, his children turn orphans. He demanded immediate arrest and trial of the killers and their exemplary punishment. 

Nasim Ahmed, Officer-in-charge of Pabna sadar police station informed, agitated party leaders and activists took out procession in town-streets by holding the dead body of Amirul over their heads on Monday noon.  The situation is under control of the police. He further informed, the area is remote and inaccessible and it is not certain who were behind the murder. Investigation is continuing. He said, there was rivalry between two groups on establishing supremacy in the area.
