The 14-party alliance led by the ruling Awami League is being strengthen gradually centring the upcoming 12th National Parliament election.
The alliance is also being expanded through the involvement of more parties, which support the ideologies, policies and activities of the ruling Awami League as well as the alliance.
According to sources, the senior leaders of the 14-party alliance are going to meet today (Monday) to discuss about what to do or not as the BNP and some of its like-minded parties are carrying out anti-government movement. The opposition party has been continuously staging demonstrations in view of enforcing movements demanding the next election be held under a caretaker government.
BiplabBarua, the office secretary of Awami League, on Sunday said the 14-party leaders are scheduled to hold a meeting today (Monday) at the Iskaton residence of Amir Hossain Amu, the coordinator and spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, at 4:00pm.
Sources said the 14-party alliance leaders are meeting to take decision about taking the next steps to face the opposition's movement.
The sources said all other leaders of the 14-party alliance are also going to take decision about holding of programmes jointly with the Awami League in capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
The Awami League and all of its affiliated bodies and organisations have been holding peace rallies as part of the vigilant activities. The vigilant programmes have been taken so that BNP, Jamaat and other ill-motivated forces can not get chance of creating anarchy or destabilize the situation of the country.
According to sources, the 14-party leaders would also discuss about the inclusion of new parties and leaders in the alliance, who are willing to join the alliance.
Sources said there are some political parties and leaders, including KrishokShramik Janata League chief Kader Siddique Beeruttom, are willing to join the alliance and strengthen the AL led alliance.
Kader already held a meeting with Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Besides, some Islamic parties are also willing to join the AL-led alliance ahead of the next parliamentary election.
