Gias Uddin Ahmed, one of the founders of Chitalmari Upazila Awami League abd close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Thursday morning. He died while undergoing treatment.
Gias Uddin Ahmed was President of Shibpur Union Awami League and a freedom fighter.
Sheikh Helal Uddin, MP of Bagerhat-1 constituency, and Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy, MP of Bagerhat-2 constituency, have expressed deep shock at his death and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. Bagerhat District Awami League and Chitalmari Upazila Awami League and all its allies and fraternal organizations have also expressed deep grief.
It is to be noted that this veteran politician was suffering from various old age complications for a long time.
