AL held rally in Bogura to protest BNP's farcical election

The district Awami League staged a rally on Monday in Bogura in protest of the BNP's one-sided mock election on February 15, 1996. Speakers at the rally mentioned February 15 as a black day in the history of Bangladesh. Bogura district Awami League president Mojibur Rahman Majnu presided over the rally at Satmatha Mujib Mancha in the city at 12 noon.

Conducted by the District Awami League office secretary Al Razi Jewel the rally had the speeches of T Zaman Niketa, Pradeep Kumar Roy, Mizanur Rahman Ratan, Asadur Rahman Dulu, Shahriar Arif Opel, Zakir Hossain Nawab, Nasrin Rahman Seema, Mashrafe Hero, Tapan Chakraborty, Ruhul Momin Tarak M Sajahan, Khalequzzaman Raja, Abu Sufian Safiq, Sahidul Islam Dulu, Saiful Islam Bulbul, Rumana Aziz Rinki, Alamgir Hossain Swapan, Altafur Rahman Masuk and others.

The speakers said that the BNP wanted to possess the power illegally by killing the democracy of the country and depriving the people of their right to vote and to have meal on this very day in 1996.

But the people of the country resisted this conspiracy of Khaleda Zia through long movement and struggle. Democracy of the country has been well established under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The present government have ensured the right to vote and food of the people of the country, overcoming all obstacles and bringing back the trend of development and progress in the country.
