Ajax Sporting Club beat Azad Sporting Club by 4-1 goals in the first match of Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the city today (Monday).
In the proceeding, Ajax's Indian recruit Silheiba Leesham scored a brace, while Subrata Pal and another Indian recruit Deepak supported him with a lone goal each for Ajax.
Khorshed scored a lone goal for Azad Sporting Club.
Ajax SC began to dominate the play and took the lead in the 6th minute through a field goal by Silheiber.
Azad also got a chance to restore parity in the first quarter, but failed to convert because of lack of proper finishing.
Subrata Paul doubled the lead, scoring the second field goal for Ajax in the 21st minute, while Deepak further widened Ajax's margin by scoring the third goal in the 34th minute of the third quarter.
Khorshed reduced the margin by scoring a lone goal for Azad in the 37th minute, while Silheiber sealed the victory by scoring his second and fourth goals for Ajax in the 41st minute of the match.
In the remaining proceedings, both teams got several scoring chances but failed to score any of those.
