Land Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman said that the Ministry of Land and Law and Justice Division will work together to increase cooperation in the effective implementation of the Land Crime Prevention and Redress Act including the other land-related laws at the field level.
The land secretary expressed his optimism while speaking as a resource person at a workshop on smart land service for Law and Justice Division officials under the Automated Land Administration and Management System (ALAMS) program at the Judicial Administration Training Institute on Thursday.
Law and Justice Division secretary Md. Golam Sarwar presided over the meeting, said land ministry press release
The land secretary said various initiatives have been taken to involve the citizens of the country in smart land services. Already more than 45 lakh complaints related to land service have been settled. Artificial intelligence-enabled robots are calling 6 lakh citizens every month to receive feedback on land services including other information.
The land secretary also said steps will be taken to sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to implement issues related to the interests of the two ministries for 'knowledge sharing at the field level and training centers' and 'inclusion of curriculum on smart land services in training centers'. He also said that arrangements have been made in 17 Upazilas to automatically complete the mutation after land registration following the purchase of land through 'Registration-Mutation Interconnection', which will be expanded across the country by next year. A digital system for determining land development tax has also been implemented.
The land secretary further emphasized that land registration activities are conducted under the Law and Justice Division in the land management of Bangladesh. Land management and cadastral survey activities are carried out under the Ministry of Land. Continuous coordination of work between these two ministries is crucial to ensuring the best use of land and providing people-friendly services through transparent, efficient, modern, and sustainable land management. Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury has prioritized this from the beginning.
Among others, officials and employees of the Ministry of Land, Law and Justice Division and Judicial Administration Training Institute were present in the workshop.
On March 29, 2023, the Prime Minister formally inaugurated the 'Registration-Mutation Interconnection' piloting program in 17 upazilas, which is now in full swing in those Upazilas
