Ahmed Shamim Al Razi new chairman of BIWTC

Ahmed Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary to the Government, joinedBangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) as the Chairman on Tuesday.

Former chairman Syed Mohammad Tajul Islam handed over the responsibilities on November 25. Officials of BIWTC welcomed the new chairman and bade farewell to the former chairman.

Ahmed Shamim Al Razi joined the 11th BCS (Administration) cadre on April 1, 1993 as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate. He was later posted as Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Sylhet District. After working as Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Chunarughatupazila of Habiganj district, he served as 2nd and 1st class magistrate in Barguna district of Barisal division, from 2004 to 2009 in Bakshiganj of Jamalpur district, Ukhia of Cox's Bazar district and Companiganjupazila of Noakhali district. 

In 2019, he was promoted to the post of Additional Secretary and joined the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. He is the Regional Director of the South Asian Center for Global Adoption (GCA). 

The government appointed him as the chairman of BIWTC on November 1, 2021.

He received education from the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.

Ahmed Shamim Al Razi was born in Sitakunda municipality, Chattogram district. After passing SSC from Sitakunda Government High School and HSC from Chittagong College, he obtained Honors and Mastersdegreein Forestry and Environmental Science from Chattogram University, and MS degree in Climate Science in Australia.
