Talented actor Afzal Hossain and recitalist Pragya Labani received the Golam Mustafa Memorial Award – 2020 in a grand ceremony hosted by Tarunner Ucchash. One of the most renowned recitation organizations of Bangladesh, Tarunner Ucchash started the Memorial Award ceremony in 2017 in honor of actor and recitalist Golam Mustafa on his birthday.
The award is presented annually by Tarunner Ucchash to artistes for their special contribution to the field of art and culture of the country. The ceremony was held on March 2nd at Chattogram Shilpakala Academy Mukta Mancha with sociologist Dr Anupam Sen and Golam Mustafa’s daughter, Suborna Mustafa, MP present as guests.
Afzal Hossain and Pragya Labani are very proud to be present at the ceremony organized by Tarunner Ucchash. On the occasion,the guests presented a sash, books on poetry, medal and honorarium of ten thousand taka to gifted actor Afzal Hossain and recitalist Pragya Labani.
During the discussion, the guests said, ‘Golam Mustafa is an indispensable name for the art of recitation in Bangladesh. He is a pioneer in the field and a guiding force for all of us.’

Organized in collaboration with the Assistant High Commission of India, the ceremony featured group musical performances from Sangeet Bhaban and Sangeet Angan. Suborna Mustafa, Afzal Hossain, Pragya Labani and Afsana Mimi recited poetry during the event.
Notably, cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam received the Golam Mustafa Memorial Award in 2017. Actor and reciter Jayanta Chattopadhyay received the award in 2018. Actress Suborna Mustafa and actor Asaduzzaman Noor received the award in 2019.
