Bangladeshi actress and director Afsana Mimi’s film project, ‘Red Lights Blue Angels’ (Bengali: ‘Laal Batir Neel Pori’), has won the Best Project Award at the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (Haniff) in Vietnam. The award was presented on November 11 during the festival’s closing ceremony at Hanoi’s historic Ho Guom Theatre.
Competing in the Film Project Market category, ‘Red Lights Blue Angels’; outshined seven international entries, impressing judges with its compelling storytelling and distinctive vision. The screenplay, co-written by Mimi and producer Tanveer Hossain, was particularly praised for its depth and creativity, marking another career milestone for Mimi.
Earlier this year, the film won first place in the West Meets East Screenplay Lab segment at the Dhaka International Film Festival, showing the potential of Bangladeshi cinema on the global stage. Known for her versatility, Afsana Mimi has long contributed to Bangladeshi entertainment, balancing her roles as an actress and director.
Her recent directorial project, the web-film ‘Off the Mark’, was also recently released on the OTT platform iScreen, reaching online audiences.
