After a four-year hiatus, Bangladesh are set to play a two-match Test series in Pakistan. Despite earlier reports suggesting that Shaheen Shah Afridi might be excluded due to disciplinary issues with the coach, new information indicates that Afridi is keen to participate.
Some media outlets had initially reported that Afridi would miss the series because he is expecting his first child. However, Pakistan’s Geo News has revealed that Afridi has expressed his desire to play in the series against Bangladesh.
Afridi recently conveyed his intention to join the Bangladesh series. Pakistan's preparation camp for the series is scheduled to begin on 6th August, and Afridi is expected to be part of this camp.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Test team head coach, Jason Gillespie, hinted at giving Afridi a rest. Gillespie mentioned to journalists, "Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah play in all formats and participate in franchise cricket as well. They cannot play every match. We will try to rest them in less important matches."
Several sources have informed Cricket Pakistan that the PCB is investigating why no action was taken against Afridi. The World Cup investigation report also highlighted the lack of discipline among Pakistan's cricketers.
