Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said the district administration is keeping a close watch on the affected landowners so that they do not have to face the wrath of any broker to get compensation for the land acquired in various development projects.

There will be a request to let the authorities know in secret if someone wants to apply for compensation for the acquired land or to get an LA check.  If anyone is a victim of harassment and suffering, upon receiving information by anonymous application, telephone or SMS, it will be investigated and legal action will be taken against the accused.  Not just the distribution of compensation checks, but the determination to ensure transparency and accountability in every work.

DC Mominur Rahman made the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at the distribution of LA checks worth Tk 27.59 crore for 11 ongoing projects held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Wednesday morning.  A total of 178 checks were distributed among 152 victims.  The Land Acquisition Branch of the Deputy Commissioner's Office organized the function.

Ctg DC said that after joining Chittagong, several brokers were arrested and disciplinary action was taken against them.  At present, the officers working in the land acquisition branch are very honest and efficient.  They are always vigilant to keep the affected landowners away from the clutches of the brokers.  He assured that a letter would be sent to the government recommending employment to the family members of those affected by the land acquisition in the Mirsarai Economic Zone project.

Land Acquisition Officer Ashraful Hasan, Land Acquisition Officer Raihan Mehbub, Chief Assistant Ali Azam, Kanungo and other employees of the Land Acquisition Branch were present at the LA check distribution function presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (LA) Masud Kamal and conducted by Land Acquisition Officer Nazma Binte Amin.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (LA) Masud Kamal said, "We will continue this trend with the aim of ensuring that the affected families fall into the clutches of the brokers so that they can take the land compensation check directly without any harassment."  In case of land acquisition, the affected family can easily get compensation in a short time by contacting the LA branch of the Deputy Commissioner's Office with all the necessary documents required for the land.  Mouza-based activities are underway at the initiative of the Land Acquisition (LA) branch of the district administration for smooth and speedy disposal of LA cases for short-term compensation.

Land Acquisition Officer Nazma Binte Amin said that as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman, compensation checks are being distributed at the doorsteps of the landowners and at the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
