Admission seekers on strike at BSMRSTU

Six students who secured position in the waiting list of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) entry test for 2019-20 session continue their hunger strike for the second consecutive day on Wednesday demanding admission against the vacant seats at the university.

The admission seekers continued their protest in front of the university main gate and submitted a memorandum to BSMRSTU vice chancellor demanding resumption of the admission process.

One of the students, Md. Humaynul Haque, who placed 427th place on H unit entry test  result, said, they have come to know from Assistant Registrar Nazrul Islam that there are many seats left vacant.

“But the university authorities have stopped admission process without any prior notice, making our education life uncertain. We will continue our protest util our demand is met,” he added. Dr AQM Mahbub, vice chancellor of BSMRSTU said they have called an emergency meeting of the committee on the admission test on November 1. “Decision will be taken on the matter after the meeting,” he added. According to campus source, excluding ward quota the BSMRSTU has as many as 444 seats vacant in 2019–20 academic year.
