ADB to support ‘My Village, My Town’ scheme

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed its firm support for the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's philosophy and Awami League's election manifesto ‘My Village, My Town’ with overall cooperation including economic.

The newly appointed ADB Country Director for Bangladesh Edimon Ginting and outgoing Country Director Manmohan Parkash expressed this while they came to meet the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam at the Ministry on Monday.

The present government is relentlessly working to implement ADB will support the implementation of 'My Village, My City' with the aim of bringing all the facilities of the city to the villages. The Farewell and the newly joined Country Director informed the Minister that ADB would provide technical assistance, including funding, for this major government undertaking.

Meanwhile, the Local Government Minister thanked the outgoing Country Director Manmohan Parkash for his support in the development of the country by fulfilling his responsibilities during his stay in Bangladesh. He also hoped that the newly joined Country Director would take necessary steps to extend full cooperation to Bangladesh.

Referring to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as a trusted development partner of Bangladesh, the Minister said, “Bangladesh's infrastructure is making a huge contribution to development, economic and social sectors. I hope ADB’s cooperation would continue in the future as well.”

Helaluddin Ahmed, Senior Secretary, Local Government Department and senior officials of the Ministry were present during the meeting.
