A 10-member delegation led by Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Ho Yun Jeong visited Chittagong Port. They collected detailed information about the port's current infrastructure, technological development and future plans.
An ADB delegation a courtesy meets on the current Chittagong Port Authority's Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman on Wednesday. During this, he informed the delegation about the port's success, South Asia's commercial potential and the importance of multi-modal connectivity and logistics chain development.
He also informed the delegation about the incredible achievements of Chittagong Port during the interim government and the growth in all indicators.
CPA Chairman said that Chittagong Port is the heart of the country's economy and the current administration of the port is implementing various plans to make Chittagong Port more efficient, modern and up-to-date. ADB's support is very important for the development of Chittagong Port, especially in the areas of multi-modal connectivity and logistics chain, to make Bangladesh a commercial hub in South Asia.
He sought ADB's direct cooperation in other development projects, including the formulation of a timely master plan for the development of Chittagong Port, providing technical assistance in the operational area.
ADB Country Director Ho Yun Jeong said that he assured Bangladesh of providing assistance in various fields and expressed his interest in increasing joint cooperation, including providing technical assistance and loans for the development of Chittagong Port. Stating that together we will build the gateway to the future of Bangladesh, he said that ADB is always interested in working as a trusted partner in the development of Bangladesh, both in the present and in the future.
After the visit, a presentation was given to the guests on the future plans of Chittagong Port and extensive information was provided about the activities and progress of the port. They visited the NCT operational activities of Chittagong Port, the under-implemented Laldia Container Terminal and Bay Terminal.
Chittagong Port Member (Engineering) Commodore Md. Mazharul Islam Jewel, Bay Terminal Project Director Commodore Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Director (Security) Lt. Col. Md. Zahirul Islam, Secretary Mohammad Azizul Moula and ADB-CPA senior officials were present at the event.
