Actress Saba submits nomination for women’s reserved seats

In the bustling corridors of Awami League's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan, a palpable fervor has gripped the premises as the party commences the sale of nomination forms for the women's reserved seats in the 12th National Parliament. 

Today, marked a notable influx of personalities from the  entertainment industry, with actresses Sohana Saba, Nipun Akhter Apu Biswas, Nipun Akhtar, Syeda Kamrun Nahar Shahnoor, Urmila Srabonti Kor, Sohana Saba, Tanveen Sweety, Meher Afroz Shaon and Zakia Moon. making their presence felt as they acquired nomination forms.

According to sources, within the Awami League central office, a significant surge in demand was observed as 171 nomination forms spanning across the 8 divisions of the country were swiftly snapped up between the hours of 10 am to 11 pm. Dhaka Division led the charge, with an impressive 50 forms sold within the initial hour, closely followed by Chittagong Division with 34 forms.

Actress Sohna Saba, responding to inquiries from Bangladesh Post about her potential bid for a political nomination, affirmed that her actions were not guided by any high command instructions. She emphasized the importance of collective prayers and expressed optimism based on her family's longstanding engagement with Awami league’s politics. Saba asserted her dedication to advancing the interests of the artist community, pledging to establish a board for its development if nominated.

The distribution across divisions unfolded 22 forms in Rajshahi Division, 17 in Khulna Division, 16 in Mymensingh Division, 14 in Rangpur Division, 13 in Barisal Division, and 5 in Sylhet Division. Notably, the enthusiasm was not confined to regional boundaries, as actresses Sohana Saba and Nipun Akhter stepped forward to secure their nomination forms.

Sohana Saba, recognizable for her contributions to the entertainment industry, made her appearance at the central office around 10:30 am, swiftly followed by Nipun Akhter at approximately 11 o'clock. Their participation underscores the diverse array of candidates vying for representation in the forthcoming elections.

As the nomination process unfolds, anticipation mounts regarding the final roster of candidates who will contend for the coveted women's reserved seats, reflecting the dynamic landscape of Bangladesh's political sphere.
