RAB-14, CPC-2 Kishoreganj camp arrested an active member of JMB's ‘Daawati’ unit named Abdul Halim, 44, with extremist books and leaflets in Kishoreganj on Tuesday midnight.
Abdul Halim, son of late Sirajul Islam of Nilganj Ukilpara area of Kishoreganj Sadar upazila was arrested by RAB men during a raid at Abdul Halim's residence in Ukilpara.
According to RAB, during the raid the expedition team of RAB-14, CPC-2, Kishoreganj recovered 6 banned extremist books, 7 booklets, 12 leaflets and 1 mobile set from Halim’s possession.
Earlier in 2010, Halim was arrested by law enforcers during a secret meeting of the banned JMB in the Fulbaria police station area of Mymensingh.
Abdul Halim said he became inclined towards extremism as he has been listening to the statements of various Islamic extremist for a long time and he identified himself as an active member of the JMB.
Halim worked on a variety of tactics for the banned militant group including secretly meeting at various locations to invite people to extremist and subversive activities, and recruiting members for the organization.
In this regard, RAB-14 Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Akkas Ali said, “Preparations are underway to file a case against the arrestee with the Kishoreganj model Police Station”.
