Kaspersky Cyber Security Challenge

Activation programme held at DU

Kaspersky Cyber Security Challenge 2019 is being launched for the second time in the country to find efficient employees in cyber security.

An activation programme of the competition was held at Dhaka University's Business Faculty Conference Hall on Thursday. Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUSCU) was an associate in DU activation phase. After the inauguration, an awareness workshop on ‘Cyber Security for Student’ was held. Speaking on the presentation, Kaspersky Bangladesh Chief Mirsad Hossain said that by the year 2022, a 133 billion dollar market will be created in cyber security. We can be a big partner in this. That's why our youths need to be ready.

“If we can create skilled manpower, great opportunities can be created in this sector. Creative IT will provide free three-day long training for the participants of the workshop”, said Monir Hossain, CEO of the organization. The programme was conducted by the Secretary of DUSCU Science and Technology Arif Ibn Ali. Among others Abdali Al Mamun, senior manager of Evaly, and Mahmudul Hasan Shawon, Security Lead of AT Bangladesh were present.

With the slogan ‘Be the Ultimate Security Specialist’, the contest is sponsored Kaspersky, powered by Walton Computer. The co-sponsors are Creative IT Institute, E-Valy, ICC Communications Ltd, and SCSL. The strategic partners are BASIS, ISPAB, and BACCO.

Mahmudul hasan Shawon, said that students of colleges and universities of the country will be able to participate in the competition. Registration has already begun for participating in the competition. You can participate in the competition by forming a team of 3 members maximum. Registration can be done until December 25 to participate in the Cyber Security Challenge. After Barisal University-awareness workshops and seminars on cybersecurity was organized in different universities of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Chittagong, Rangpur, Comilla. An online-based selection test will be conducted on December 26 with the registered students. The passing teams will have the opportunity to participate in the final competition on December 28 at the Daffodil International University.

All members of the champion team will receive laptops as winning the prize, the first runner-up team will receive smartphones and the second runner-up team will receive tablet PCs in the contest. They will also receive crest and certificates. The winning women’s team will receive a special honour. Besides, the winning team will also have the privilege to do their interns from the leading IT company. Competitors will also have the opportunity to earn money by participating in the Kaspersky Bug Bounting Programme. Foreign experts along with Bangladeshi experts in cybersecurity will be judging the contest.
