Taking advantage of the confusion created by names, an accused named Liton Faraji was released from jail showing the bail papers of Liton Sikdar. Mohammad Ibrahim, the prison guard of Shariatpur jail, was suspended following the incident on Tuesday.
The incident took place at Shariatpur jail on the evening of Sunday. Shariatpur district jail authorities have filed a general diary (GD) with Palang Model Police Station on Monday. According to the GD filed with the police station by jailer (In charge) Amirul Islam of Shariatpur jail, on the evening of Sunday, he released two accused as per the rules.
But due to an unintentional official mistake, Liton Faraji got out of jail instead of Liton Sikder by deceiving the prison guard.
A three-member committee has been formed in this regard by the Department of Prison.
Tipu Sultan, DIG (Prison) of Barisal division has been made the convener and Faridpur jail super Al Mamun and Jhalokati jailer Jannat-ul-Farhad have been made members of the committee.
