Access Bangladesh Foundation has been honoured by the Government of Bangladesh for its significant contributions to the development and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The organisation received the national recognition on Tuesday, marking the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 27th National Day of Persons with Disabilities.
At an event organised by the Jatiyo Protibondhi Unnoyon Foundation (JPUF) under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Co-Founder and Chairperson Mohua Paul and Co-Founder and Executive Director Albert Mollah accepted the award on behalf of Access Bangladesh. The crest was handed over by Sharmin S. Murshid, Adviser to the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Expressing gratitude, Albert Mollah said the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the organisation’s board members, staff, partners, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), and individuals with disabilities who drive its mission of building an inclusive society.
Mohua Paul also expressed, “We thank the Ministry of Social Welfare for this honor and for their commitment to an inclusive Bangladesh. We also thank our donors, supporters and well-wishers for their continued trust.”
Both leaders noted that the award reinforces their commitment to strengthening disability inclusion nationwide and urged collaborative action to build a society where persons with disabilities can participate fully.
Access Bangladesh Foundation is a leading woman with disabilities led non-profit organization, established on 4th January 2008, committed to the empowerment of persons with disabilities and marginalized groups, with a special focus on children, girls, youth and women.
It works to build an inclusive society where persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups can participate equally. Its programs cover inclusive education, skills development, employment, digital inclusion, accessible infrastructure, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, sexual and reproductive health and rights, access to justice, research, campaigns and evidence-based advocacy.
The organization works in 29 districts through partnerships with 65 grassroots OPDs. The organisation operates from its Savar headquarters with project offices in Dhamrai, Dhaka, Shyamnagar, Satkhira and Austomir Char, Kurigram.
