ACC summons 20 teachers of a college for irregularities

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned 20 teachers of Satkhira City College for their alleged involvement in the inclusion of their names in the MPO through irregularities, corruption, tearing and rewriting the pages of the Regulation Book.

It is learnt, at the first phase ACC Dhaka office summoned 10 Lecturers of the college from January-17 to 21 and took written statements from them. Another letter from ACC summoning 10-more teachers has reached to the college on Wednesday.

It is learnt, on January-11, a letter issued by Deputy Assistant Director and Investigation Officer of ACC Probir Kumar Das summoned 10-teachers of the college on the allegations of receiving the kickback, forging of college regulation book and thus appointing and the inclusion of 16-teachers in the MPO by adopting irregularities by the Principal of the college. 

It is learnt, ACC official Prabir Kumar Das on December-22 last year visited Satkhira and apprised of the corruption and various irregularities of the college from Principal Emdaul Haque of Satkhira City College and former Principal Sukumar Das of Satkhira Government College.

It is learnt, documents of five teachers among 10 appeared at the ACC proved forged in the preliminary investigation. 

A total of 21 teachers including the Principal of the college are likely to be quizzed by ACC. 

According to the source, according to a complaint filed through hotline of ACC by teacher Bidhan Chandra Das on 24 July 2019, the teachers of the college are being summoned gradually to ACC officials from January-17 to receive written statements from them. 

ACC brought the charge against the then President of the College Governing Body, Principal of the college Abu Sayed,  Director General of Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Deputy Director of Khulna DSHE and District and the Upazila Education Officer on the allegation of nearly Taka four crore appointment business on July-24, 2019.
