Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) recently sent letters to various government organisations seeking related documents on controversial e-commerce platform Evaly.

ACC Secretary Dr Md Anwar Hossain Hawlader told journalists at ACC Headquarters in the capital on Thursday. He said they sent letters seeking documents on Evaly from various government organisations.

ACC will work in coordination with all investigating organisations in this connection. According to the ACC officials, the ACC sent letters to Commerce Ministry, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit of Bangladesh Bank, City Corporation, Joint Stock Company, Criminal Investigation Department and some organisations. Earlier on July 9, the ACC barred the top officials of the Evaly from leaving the country. On July 7, the Ministry of Commerce asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to file a case against Evaly over the embezzlement of Tk338 crore it owed to merchants, which was taken as an advance from customers.

The ministry also separately wrote to the ACC to initiate legal actions against the online marketplace over the irregularities reported by Bangladesh Bank.
