Abu Zafar’s burial today

Former General Secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Freedom Fighter Syed Abu Zafar is laid to eternal rest at his village home in Moulvibazar today, reports BSS.

He would be buried at Shah Mostafa Dargah adjacent graveyard at Shamsernagar in Moulvibazar district following a namaj-e-janaza at Shah Mostafa Eidgah at 2pm, said a press release of CPB.

Zafar breathed his last at a Dhaka hospital on May 28.

His body will be taken to his Shamsernagar road residence in Moulvibazar and later the body will be taken to CPB’s district office.

District unit leaders and workers will place wreaths on the coffin of Zafar and later it will be taken to Moulvibazar Central Shaheed Minar to allow the people of all strata to have their last glimpse of Zafar. A guard of honor will be given to the freedom fighter for his contribution to the country’s Liberation War.

CPB central committee adviser Manzurul Ahsan Khan, general secretary Mohammad Shah Alam and other central leaders and leaders of different organizations and parties will join the funeral ceremony of Zafar.

Besides, CBP will observe mourning day tomorrow at the death of the party’s former general secretary. Black flags will be hoisted at all offices of the party including the central office and party flags will be kept at half-mast.

CPB will organize mourning procession, mourning meeting and other programmes. CPB leaders and workers will place wreaths at the portrait of Zafar in front of the party’s central office at Mukti Bhaban at Purana Paltan here at 10am today.
