ABT Khulna regional chief, another held in Rajshahi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 have arrested two active members of outlawed militant organisation Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Ujanpara area of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.

The RAB members also recovered some banned militant books, flag, special diary from their possession. They arrested the militants and seized the items at about 1:00 am on Tuesday.

A press release of RAB-5, Rajshahi informed, responding a tip off, a team of RAB-5 stormed at an under construction building of Matikata Adarsha College and arrested the ABT members.

The arrestees are Jewel Mollah, 25, son of Abdur Rahsid Mollah of village Diapara under Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district, and Shahidul Islam, 39, son of late Sobhan Howlader of Daskhin Khajadnage village under Rupsha police station of Khulna district.

However, sensing the presence of RAB members, seven to eight more outlawed ABT members managed to escape the scene.

During interrogation, Jewel Mollah identified himself as the Regional Head of Khulna Region of ABT. They were learnt to reorganise the activities of ABT in Rajshahi and planning to activities of countrywide sabotage through collection of illegal fire arms and bombs.
