ABF celebrates 15th founding anniversary

Access Bangladesh Foundation (ABF) has celebrates its 15th Anniversary on Wednesday. The celebration took place at the Access Conference Hall, Anandapur, Savar, Dhaka-1340. Access Bangladesh is a leading organization of Persons with Disabilities, established in 2008 dedicated to the vision of empowerment of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. 

Since its establishment the organization has been working for the development of persons with disabilities in two broader perspective-rights based and direct service provision in line with Community Based Inclusive Dev Approach. Under direct service provision approach, the organization provides educational materials, student stipend, assistive devices, mobilize parents and community people, sensitize School Management Committeesto increase enrolment of students with disabilities in the educational institutes. 

For inclusive health, the organization sensitizes community people on disability prevention, provide referral services, medicine support, doctor consultation, primary rehabilitation, sexual and reproductive health education, assistive devices. 

To promote inclusive livelihood, the organization create database of job seekers with disabilities, provides skills trainings, arrange job fairs, form cooperative societies, promote entrepreneurs with disabilities, create market linkage, conduct research on skills and employment, provide technical supports to training institutes for promoting disability inclusive skills system and sensitize employers for generating wage-employment opportunity for young persons with disabilities.

Under right based approach,the organization conducts research, disability inclusive budget campaign, high level advocacy for legislations and policy changes, work with mediato raise mass awareness and to influence policy makers.

The organization has been awarded by the national and international agenciesfor its outstanding contribution in the development of persons with disabilities.
