Abdul Malik Chowdhury recalled, trust floated

A reception ceremony for the second prize-winner of National Hifzul Quran Competition-2020 was held at Birdal Agragami High School at Kanighat upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday (January 12). Food was distributed among poor people and a special prayer was also offered at the function.

Allama Abdul Malik Chowdhury Education and Public Welfare Trust arranged the function in memory of Abdul Malik Chowdhury, a prominent figure of Birdal village under Rajaganj union of Kanaighat upazila and a former Muhaddis of Sylhet Govt Alia Madrasa.

Allama Abdul Malik Chowdhury Education and Public Welfare Trust began its formal journey through the function of January 12. However, its informal journey began earlier and committee of the trust was formed on July 15 in 2020. UK expatriate Abul Hasanat Chowdhury and Bahar Uddin Chowdhury were made president and secretary of the committee respectively.

Mokbul Hossain Chowdhury presided over the reception and food distribution ceremony, while Bahar Uddin Chowdhury conducted the event. Principal of Gasbari Jamiul Ulum Kamil Madrasa Maulana Tahir Uddin spoke on the occasion as the chief guest, while it was addressed, among others, by Principal of Jalalabad Teachers’ Training College Prof Dr Hasmat Ullah, social worker Md Abdur Rahim, Maulana Habibur Rahman, local UP chairman Fakhrul Islam,  Md Jakaria, Maulana Badrul Haque, Khaled Chowdhury, Mohammad Mahbub, Hasanat Hossain Chowdhury and Abu Taher Chowdhury. Abul Hasanat Chowdhury joined the event virtually from the UK. 

The guests and organisers handed over crest to second prize-winner of National Hifzul Quran Competition Md Ehteshamul Haque Heera.
