Abahani to play against Sheikh Jamal today

The 12th round of the Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League Football will resume today after 14-day vacation for Eid-ul-Fitr.  

Two matches scheduled for the day at Gopalganj and Mymensingh. 

Six times champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will take on Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at 3:45 p.m. at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Gopalganj, while Bangladesh Police FC will take on Sheikh Russel KC at the same time at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani are on third position with19 points, while Sheikh Jamal are placed fourth with 15 points. 

Abahani dropped points in their last match after a 1-1 draw at home ground against Fortis FC. 

Sheikh Jamal played out a 2-2 draw against Bangladesh Police at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in their last Premier League match to extend their unbeaten run to five in a row.When the two Dhanmondi outfit in their last meeting in BPL, Abahani triumphed 1-0 win at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in January when Cornelius Stewart scored in the 88th minute.

Abahani have the better of Jamal with remaining unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches. Jamal are looking for their first league win in fixtures between the two sides since January 2018. 

Abahani have outscored Sheikh Jamal 23-9 during their meetings.

Stewart has been playing crucial role for Abahani this season. The striker is the leading scorer with nine goals. Shokhrukhbek Kholmatov, Abou Toure and Sazzad Hossain are Sheikh Jamal's leading scorers this season, netting three, two, and two times, respectively.

In their last six league matches, Abahani Limited have won three and drawn three. Jamal, meanwhile, have won two, drawn three and lost one in their last six matches.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Police are in fifth place with 14 points, scored 12 goals and conceded 14.  

When in the last meetings in the Premier League, Bangladesh Police defeated Sheikh Russel by 1-0 at Bashundhara Kings Arena in January. 

Edward Morillo scored lone goal for Bangladesh Police in the 65th minute. 

Morillo, Edis Ibargüen, and Mohamed Al Amim key forwards of Bangladesh Police. Morillo and Ibargüen are the team's joint top scorers with three goals, followed by Al Amim with two.

Sheikh Russel's most vital player is their forward Landry Ndikumana, who scored on six occasions.

In their last six league matches, Bangladesh Police have won two, drawn one and lost three. Russel while have won one, drawn three and lost two in their last six matches.
